Search4Local Sports Day 2024

Employees Playing Tug Of War Game

Table of Contents

Once a year, we give the Search4Local team a chance to compete in our very own sports day. Not only is this a great team building opportunity, it also supports our mission to ensure our staff are active and healthy. This year the weather was kind to us. Therefore, we managed to enjoy the green space we have outside the office and finish off the day with a healthy picnic.

The Games

We are proud to own our very own company tug-of-war rope. Split into two teams, we pitted our employees against each other to see who was the strongest. With three people each side, competition was tough. Ultimately, the prevailing team were led by our Operations Manager, who used his unmatched strength to his advantage.

To test our team’s agility, we then played a game of catch. The premise was simple: throw the rocket to another person anywhere in the circle. If anyone performed a bad throw, they would forfeit a life. Similarly, if anyone failed to catch the rocket or dropped it they would also forfeit. After three lives were lost, they were out. As the circle lost more people, the throws needed to be more accurate and the catches more skilled.

We also played a few games of Quoits. This is an old fashioned lawn game, where the aim is to throw a loop over a stick, much like hoopla. Each stick corresponded to a certain number of points. Although this game sounds easy, the participants found it quite challenging, which resulted in a tense game.

The Picnic

To top up everyone’s energy levels after some pretty tiring games, we supplied a healthy picnic – with a few treats included too! We had all of the British picnic staples, from sandwiches to sausage rolls. The team even went to the effort to chop up some fresh pineapple and cubes of cheese for some classic party food – although we did forget the sticks on this occasion!

After all the hard work and exercise the team had done, a little bit of a treat was in order. For dessert, we had some scones with clotted cream and posh jam.

Although sports day is now over, we have plenty more to look forward to this year. In September, we’ll be hosting an all-staff conference, bringing members of the Search4Local team together from across the country. We love to give our staff the opportunity to socialise and relax together. We have a fantastic team who work incredibly hard, so it’s great to reward them with a little bit of fun!
